I received a free copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review.

This was a very sweet holiday short about two lonely men finding eachother on christmas eve.
Mitch is an ex combat medic, discharged from the military after bad conduct and still grieving his dead lover. He runs a bar and loves christmas. On christmas eve he hears a ruckus from the alley behind the bar and steps out in time to intervene in a mugging / beating of a young man. He brings him into his bar / home and the two connect. Keller is a young man, whom life has dealt a hard hand, but he is surprisingly optimistic about his future. The two hit it off, and the story ends on a hopeful HFN note.

There were some really good bones behind this story and with some fleshing out, this could have been something great. As it was the length of the story worked against it, as we never really got under the skin of the charcters. The author did a good job within the page count though, and you are still left with a heart warming little christmas tale, which stays on this side of sweet.

I enjoyed the author’s writing and wouldn’t hesitate to try another story from her in the future.
