Review of Country Mouse by Amy Lane

Country Mouse (Country Mouse, #1)Country Mouse by Amy Lane

My rating: 4 of 5 stars

This was much sweeter and less angsty than I had suspected it to be. Lovely little story about two men finding exactly what they didn’t know they were looking for in a weekend hook up.

Owen is travelling in Europe and finds himself alone in a seedy pub in London, where he bumps into Malcolm. Who is almost as out of place as Owen is.
Malcolm is an overworked, oversexed, overhyped trader, who does not do emotions or relations, he does hook up sex as ‘big bad Malcom the Dom’, except that Owen, the country mouse, complete undoes him.

The story takes place over one weekend and is therefor obviously a bit rushed. But it actually works. Owens openness strips the facades away and allow the reader to believe, that this connection is actually possible.

The story ends on a lovely HFN note, which is satisfactory enough to work. But I am still glad, that there is a sequel, so I can see what happens next.

4 solid stars.
