Dead Man and the Restless Spirits by Lou Harper
My rating: 4 of 5 stars
3.5-4 stars
I received a free copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
Well, this was fun! Very sweet and light and not what I expected at all, but very enjoyable.
Denton sees dead people, or he sees the remnants of recent deaths. When he moves into a new apartment he encounters his yummy neighbor Bran, who turns out to be a herbalist and witch. The two join forces to help out the restless spirits of Chigaco.
The book reads like a collection of short novellas, don’t know if they were orginially several shorts? But it flows together nicely. The banter between the two is fun and light and had me chuckling several times. Actually everything is fun and light, in spite of the fact that they deal with some hard topics surrounding death and spirits with unfinished business. But it never gets heavy or scary, its just light enjoyable fun…
I would recommend it to anyone looking for a fun light read for a rainy day. Its short and easily read, the writing flows nicely and you are pulled into the world immediately. I will be getting the second in the series, as well as the original book of Harpers where Denton first appears as a side character.
